McKayla Rose Maroney (also known as "Mack Air Maroney") is an American known gymnast. She was awarded gold by team US Olympic gymnastics team, as well as a silver medal for an individual during the Summer Olympic Games in 2012. Early on, she was inspired to take up gymnastics by her parents who were sports enthusiasts. She specializes in vaulting. She is the only gymnast who has been able to succeed in defending her gold medal, which she first won at the 2011 World Championship, and then defended it in 2013 Championship.
